step by step process of The Konnections Project

How It Works

A flexible process tailored to your needs, whether you’re starting fresh or already have a Behaviour Support Plan in place.

Get in Touch

Complete our referral form or contact us directly. We’ll discuss your current situation, including whether you already have a Behaviour Support Plan in place.

Initial Consultation

We’ll arrange an initial consultation either in-person (at home or in the community) or online to understand your goals, needs, and daily routines.

Assessment & Planning

If you’re new to PBS, we’ll complete a Functional Behaviour Assessment. If you already have a Behaviour Support Plan, we can review it and update it to align with our approach and current best practices.

Implementation & Support

We develop or revise your Behaviour Support Plan, then work collaboratively with families, carers, and professionals to implement strategies. We also provide direct participant support where suitable.

Monitor & Adjust

We review progress regularly and adjust the plan as needed. Our goal is always to reduce reliance on restrictive practices while building skills and independence.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need a referral to access your services?

You can contact us directly without any formal referral process. Whether you're reaching out yourself, through a family member, or via a support coordinator, simply get in touch or complete our online enquiry form to get started.

  • What if I already have a Behaviour Support Plan?

We're happy to work with existing plans. Our team can conduct a thorough review of your current BSP and refresh it to better reflect where you are now and what you're working towards, incorporating our collaborative approach.

  • How long is the wait time?

We understand timely access matters. Most people connect with our team and begin services within a month or less, as we prioritise responding quickly and getting support underway without unnecessary delays.

  • Where do you deliver your services?

Our mobile service covers the greater Brisbane region, including Moreton Bay, Logan, Ipswich, and Redlands, among many others. Basically, we service anywhere within 40km of the Brisbane CBD. We meet you where it suits you best: your home, local community venues, or online through telehealth platforms.

  • What is a restrictive practice, and will you use one?

Restrictive practices involve any intervention that constrains someone's freedom or rights. Think physical holds, locked doors, or environmental limitations. We only consider these under exceptional circumstances, strictly following NDIS regulatory requirements, and they must receive formal approval within a Behaviour Support Plan. Our philosophy centres on reducing reliance on these measures progressively until they're no longer needed.

  • What does NDIS funding cover for Positive Behaviour Support?

Positive Behaviour Support is funded through the Capacity Building – Improved Relationships category in your NDIS plan. Applicable funding items include:

    • 11_022_0110_7_3 – Specialist Behavioural Intervention Support
    • 11_023_0110_7_3 – Behaviour Management Plan, Including Training
    • 11_024_0117_7_3 – Individual Social Skills Development (if included in your plan)

If you're uncertain about your funding, we're happy to review your plan and clarify what's available.
